Solar Eclipse

All pupils at Harlaw Academy will have the chance to view the Solar Eclipse tomorrow (weather permitting).

Viewing the eclipse has a number of educational purposes:

  • To raise awareness of eye safety amongst pupils, parents and staff
  • To experience the wonder of the moment – do the birds make a racket? Does it get colder? How dark does it get? (our pupils will never have experienced this event before and we want it to be memorable and safe)
  • To do one or two specific things with some classes relating to Science/Physics

We have sourced protective glasses for pupils that will be handed out on Friday morning to ensure that pupils are able to view the eclipse safely.
